Gustafson Industries helps to restore an 87 year old historical Palm Beach House

West Palm Beach, FL – Family owned and operated roofing company, Gustafson Industries, of South Florida, was awarded a project to reroof a Mediterranean Revival style house in West Palm Beach that was built in 1926. The house had been left in much disrepair and had become an eyesore to the neighborhood but was not allowed to be demolished because of its historical registry.
In 2011, Christopher Heggen purchased the home to restore it to its original state of beauty.
The Palm Beach City Commission was thrilled to support a full rehabilitation of the building that has been known historically as the Gerald McLaughlin House. The house is recognized for its 3 story tower on the North East Corner of the residence. The rest of the home is a two-story stucco structure.
The roof covering the tower was set with a beautiful barrel tile. Other sections of the roof over the building were reconstructed at a variety of slopes and elevations using tile roofing as well. The project was allowed on the condition that the building did not lose its historic character.
Gustafson Industries has done an outstanding job with this project. They have placed a submission with the FRSA for the S.T.A.R. Award, which is given as an achievement of outstanding work in the Florida roofing and sheet metal industry. Gustafson has made a great showing with this project and will be entered as a serious contender for the award presented in 2014.
